On May 27, a meeting of the Finance and Budget Commission, the Commission for Social, Education, Culture and Sports Affairs and the “Georgian Dream-Democratic Georgia” faction was held in the Chokhatauri Municipality Council. One of the issues discussed at the sessions was the issue of the initiation of public administrative proceedings “On the approval of the rules for drawing up the participatory budgeting program”. The fraction and the committees supported the initiated issue. Mariam Chkhikvadze, representative of the “Georgia Development Platform” (GeoDP), facilitator of the participatory budgeting program, attended the sessions of the commission.

On May 29 of this year, at the meeting of the Chokhatauri City Council, the issue of the initiation of public administrative proceedings of the draft resolution of the City Council “On approval of the procedure for drawing up the participatory budgeting program” will be discussed.

The draft of the normative act was prepared by the “Georgia Development Platform” (GeoDP), in cooperation with the local authority of Chokhatauri municipality, within the framework of the project – “Supporting partner municipalities to effectively conduct participatory budgeting by 2024”.

In accordance with the agreed normative act, a complete package of legal acts of the participatory budgeting program is prepared by GeoDP and handed over to the local government, in particular, the individual acts of the Mayor and the Sakrebulo of Chokhatauri municipality.

The project – “Supporting partner municipalities to effectively conduct participatory budgeting by 2024” is implemented within the framework of the “USAID Local Self-Government Program”. Packages of legal acts are prepared and agreed with the local authorities of the other four municipalities targeted by the project, namely Ozurgeti, Batumi, Kuta and Oni.
